I’ve been wrestling with the concept of ideas for a while now. Since re-joining the bv02 team a few years back I have been insistent that ideas are our best differentiators. We are an idea company. We trade in ideas (hey, new tagline?!). We’re clever, they’re not.
Granted, this branding approach is little more than finger pointing and yelling “I’m the king of the castle – you’re a dirty rascal”, but surprisingly, it works. bv02 has grown year over year for the past 3 years. So it would appear that I have been correct. We’re clever, others are less so. Yay us!
Now, it has been pointed out to me that someone else, or a competitor company, could say ‘Hey! I have an idea too’…which is a strong counter position. The louder and more frequent their claim, the stronger their brand positioning. In an effort to adapt and further differentiate I have therefore shifted my mindset and added to our list of brand differentiators…as of March 2010, bv02 is an idea company full of good looking people. Great ideas AND good looks. Seriously….who could compete?!
Yes, we do stellar design. We do web video and are experts in Social Media. We speak at conferences across the county and have fantastic clients…but good looking people with great ideas? NOW we’re on to something….
